Credentialing Learning

Advancing Career Readiness at FIU

The Office of Credentialing Learning at Florida International University connects learning to career readiness by recognizing and validating the full range of student experiences inside and outside the classroom. Through micro-credentials, co-curricular and experiential learning transcripts, and prior learning assessment (PLA), we help students translate their skills and knowledge into meaningful, career-ready outcomes.

Our work supports colleges, departments, and units in designing and implementing programs that advance student career readiness. As a strategic partner, we drive a connected ecosystem where learning is recognized, validated, and clearly communicated; which means that students can confidently demonstrate their readiness for the workforce.

We connect learning to career readiness by recognizing and validating the full range of student experiences inside and outside the classroom.

Our Three Focus Areas:

Micro-credentials: Highlight earned competencies that employers can recognize and students can showcase.

Co-Curricular & Experiential Learning Transcript: Documenting experiential learning experiences like internships, leadership, research, and service that support career readiness skill development.

Prior learning assessment: Award credit for learning gained through professional work and college-caliber learning experiences.

A Strategic Partner for Your Unit

Credentialing Learning supports colleges, departments, and units in designing programs that advance student career readiness. We serve as your strategic partner in translating learning into recognized, career-relevant outcomes.

Some of our services include:

  • Guidance on competency-based program design
  • Alignment with institutional standards and consistency frameworks
  • Support for workforce-aligned opportunities
  • Centralized data & project management hub

Credentialing Learning serves as FIU's centralized repository for experiential learning data, anchored by the Co-Curricular and Experiential Learning Transcript model. This enables the university to consistently capture, validate, and scale experiences - turning internships, research, leadership, and service into measurable indicators of career readiness.

Together, we enable a connected ecosystem where learning is recognized, validated, and clearly communicated; which means that every FIU student will be able to confidently demonstrate their readiness for the workforce.
