Developing a new Prior Learning Assessment Opportunity

Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) provides learners with the opportunity to earn academic credit toward a degree by demonstrating college-level knowledge and skills gained through prior experience. When aligned with established academic standards, PLA recognizes learning acquired through professional work, training, and other learning experiences.

FIU colleges and departments can develop PLA pathways that uphold the rigor and quality of an FIU education while expanding access and flexibility for learners.
